The Mogollon Rim is a ridge that runs high above the Colorado Plateau, roughly 200 miles long and 7,000 feet above sea level. It’s a wilderness enthusiast’s playground, with lots of lakes, trails and canyons. Zane Grey lived just below the rim and many books such as “Riders of the Purple Sage” were set in this area.
We were headed toward Knolls lake, but were blocked by a forest fire – a controlled fire, but still scary.

Looks familar. Just camped with Yolanda and family there two weeks ago. Smoke from a fire just North of us too, but a lot more. Enjoyed the hike to the Tonto bridge too.
